This cache was originally the finale of an 8 cache walk up from the A1, but wit the A14 improvement works going right through the middle of the walk I have had to remove them all. The full story can be found here.
... and so the intrepid trio headed up to Brampton Wood, unaware of the danger lurking behind every post, rock and tree stump.
Henry, unsurprisingly, was the first to reach the boundary of the wood. "Well my little minions, what do we do here? The Wood is an SSSI or some other such annoying brick wall to our fun!"
"It's not a problem" Ross chimed "The cache isn't in the wood, it is magically just outside, that's what my map says anyway. We can enter the Wood to walk to GZ but the cache itself is outside the wood."
"Well that's re-assuring, but what about all those evil looking red eyes staring at us from in the wood and what about that huge dinosaur following us up the track? And are those trees actually walking." Marcus sounded a little concerned.
"Pish Tush" uttered Henry.
"What?" questioned Marcus.
"It's an old saying my girlfriend used to use. You need some more Halloween beer" cajoled Henry.
And so the traipsing trio trounced into the trees with turbid tootsies and thirst quenched throats.
They headed through the kissing gate type thing and hung an immediate left. They walked only a few yards before there fancy spancy transceivers started beeping. They looked where their plastic boxes were pointing and it was a large tree a couple of yards the other side of the wood's boundary fence.
Luckily it looked like a rather large dinosaur had trampled the fence down so it was a simple matter of walking over the fence and out of the SSSI.
Henry went first and reached the tree, he looked around the back of the tree and saw that it was partly hollow. Inside he saw a sliver of something not quite right. It looked like camo tape.
With scant regard for his own safety he placed his foot on a small root a little down the bank and thrust his had into the organic camo and retrieved a reasonably sized clip and lock box all wrapped up in camo tape.
His grubby little hands soon had it open and he'd pocketed the trackables before Marcus could spot them. Mission accomplished!
Now, with only 2 more problems to deal with, Henry confidently returned the box without sealing the plastic bag inside that held the log book. It was at this point that the full moon came out and as Henry looked down into the bowls of the tree he spotted the hundreds of giant bird eating spiders heading his way and thousands of false widow spiders crawling up the sleeves of his coat and all over his body ....
Marcus and Ross took one look, turned to each other and said "Joint FTF?" before running back down the hill towards the car and safety.
Unfortunately they never made it. They were nearly back when they were beamed up into an alien spaceship, given 500 plastic 30ml tubes and told to set a 500 cache loop or never return.
...
Jay laughed, rolled another joint and threw the book on his camp fire.
