This cache is the third in a series of annual Halloween themed caches. This is a relatively straightforward hide but once you find the cache there is a bit of a twist to finding and signing the log. Your search could be a bit creepy. Boo!
There is no conveniently close parking to the cache. We would recommend parking at Lake Frank using the primary parking coordinates (P1). From there, take the trail from the parking lot to the dam. Cross the dam and leave the paved trail by taking the dirt trail (TH1) down the hill. Stay on the trail and eventually you will arrive at the paved Rock Creek Trail. Proceed to cache. From parking to cache is approximately six tenths of a mile.
Alternatively, use the secondary parking coordinates on the Norbeck service road. The trek is longer but uses only paved trails (minus the last 130 feet to the cache itself) and is easier to follow. Otherwise, cache is reachable from other parking and trailheads within the park. Use the trail map here if needed.
Standard woodland hide and container should be easy to find. There is minimal room for trade items due to the contents of the cache. Please do not remove the items that are clearly part of the cache. Anything else you find is fair game. You MUST find and SIGN the log to claim this cache. The log is in there somewhere. Please be careful with the contents of the cache and replace everything more or less as you found it. Rock Creek Park is dawn to dusk only so please no night caching.
