Constructed of Bath stone this Grade 1 listed building was designed by Edward Haycock Snr, an architect from Shrewsbury, and was built for William Jones, but it was constructed after the Gatehouse (which is on the other side of the road to where I have situated this cache) and the folly of Clytha Castle (see my nearby Folly of William Jones multicache). The gates you see are even grade 2 listed.
The interior is designed in the Duric style and is said to be stunning, however, although owned by the National Trust, the building itself is still a private residence and not open to the public at any time.
The Cache
The cache is a simple black 35mm film canister type container with just room for a log. I was going to make it a bit of a bigger cache but there is very limited places to put it so I left it that in an attempt to keep it from being muggled.
The cache is situated on a wide road verge, but is still fairly close to the road so please keep an eye on stray geokids and dogs. As such stealth will be needed as I guarantee at least one car will come past when you are there!! The very short walk from the suggested car parking can also be done on the same wide verge but this side road is much quieter.
