Geocache Description:

A beautiful hidden beach between Albany and Denmark

Lowlands Beach is a wonderful beach between Albany and Denmark, and views of this beach can be enjoyed from two lookouts along the main road. However few people make it to the lesser known Second Beach or Back Beach (indicated by the red arrow in the photo above), which is hidden behind a rocky outcrop, but is accessible not far from the main beach.

To get here, take Lower Denmark Rd, turn onto Tennessee Road South, and drive almost to the end of the road. Easiest walking access is via the Bibbulmun track, and if you start from where the track crosses Tennessee Road (see the coordinates for parking), it shouldn't take you much more than 15 minutes walk. Once you're fairly close to the cache, there is a junction (I've listed the coordinates for this as waypoint R1) where you can turn left onto a path away from the Bibbulmun and straight towards the ocean - to avoid any bush-bashing, just follow this all the way to the top of the coastal cliff overlooking the beach, and then make your way the remaining few meters to GZ. Alternatively, if you have a 4WD, you can turn right off Tennessee Rd Sth onto a track that will take you right by the cache, practically making it a drive-by.

After finding the cache, you might want to make your way to the beach below. Not too many people get the privilege of feeling the sand of this particular beach under their feet, so if you've come all this way anyway, here's a great opportunity for a rare privilege! From the spot where the side trail off the Bibbulmun gets to the cliff top overlooking the beach, you should be able to see a steep track going directly down to the beach. You can clamber on the rocks on the left side of the beach, and there's also a set of stairs there that will give you some great views.

Cache is a clear plastic 400mL sistema container. We have deliberately made it fairly easy to find (see the hint for an obvious clue), because this cache is all about the location. We placed it here to share another jewel of the rainbow coast, and to help bring other geocachers here to enjoy this wonderful spot.
