If you look on your electronic map (and the council map) it shows that Half Chain Road actually continues down to the sea. But Mr Giles; of farmer fame, decided to put an irrigation system and put up some signs to warn us citizens of the world it is private! incidently the road down into town is not on the council map!

If you come from Pareora, the walk is around 150mtrs up hill, it is sort of a nice view.
