At the posted coordinates, you will find a plaque with lots of useful information on it. Please read it and figure out the location of the final container.
In order to find the final, from the plaque, project a waypoint based upon the following information.
Distance: Take the previous maximum length of the locks of the former Canal, and add them to the number of the lock at which you are standing. This number is the distance in meters to the final.
Bearing: Subtract the total number of stone locks of the Third Welland Canal, from the first three digits of the year by when the locks increased in height on the Third Welland Canal.
Based upon those two numbers, you can now project a waypoint to the final.
