Geocache Description:

The Cathedral is a 13th Century Parish Church set in the heart of the Royal Burgh of Dornoch and is the most northerly cathedral on the mainland of Great Britain.  It was built by Gilbert de Moravia(died 1245) (later Saint Gilbert of Dornoch).

The current minister is the Rev Susan Brown who officiated at the wedding of Madonna and Guy Ritchie at nearby Skibo Castle in December 2000.

The Cathedral has many other interesting features including gargoyles which have been set in the eaves.  Also of interest are the stained glass windows on the north side of the chancel which were donated in memory of Andrew Carnegie, who often summered at his estate Skibo, located four miles from Dornoch. The three windows represent music, peace and literacy, three of Carnegie's concerns. >
