Krampus is Coming to Town! Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

-allenite-: Greetings,

As this event has long since past (over a month), I am archiving it to prevent it from showing up on searches and the map by cachers in the area.

Thank you,

Geocache Description:

Season's Greetings!

You've heard of Santa Claus, but have you ever heard of Krampus? Don't feel bad, not many have. Krampus is a little bit of Austrian Folklore. See, in the traditional tales over there, Santa doesn't just bring coal to children who misbehave, he just sends his good buddy Krampus to go deal with them!

I did a little research and learned Krampus supposedly visits on the eve of St. Nicholas' Day in Austria, which is December 5th or Krampusnacht as they call it. It seemed as good a reason as any to host another meet and greet event, so let's get together, talk caching and prepare for Krampus' arrival!

Saturday, December 5th, 11 a.m.-Noon, or whenever everyone gets cold.

I'll bring some snacks (to be determined closer to the event date) and I'm going to try and hide a new cache, possibly a whereigo to play off the weird theme of Krampus.

In case you're wondering, Krampus is usually depicted as a devilish-looking character and he punishes children by swatting them with switches and rusty chains before dragging them away. So you guys better be good!

For some really odd reason, Europeans have sent each other the most ridiculously creepy greeting cards featuring this fictional character for years. Check out some of these old cards I found on the net:

Gives me chills...so creepy. And Krampus is pretty disturbing too!

Can you tell I had way too much fun with this cache page? Haha. See you at the event!
