Geocache Description:

This cache is placed to remind us how things change over time. This old road used to be Murray Valley Highway up to the 1930's but as traffic became faster and more vehicles travelled on the road the T section at the end became dangerous as the crossing road was just as busy. The CRB, now Vic Roads, changed the direction by building the big sweeping bend that is here today.

If you look to the North just right of the old windmill you will see an old Peppercorn Tree. There was once a little cottage there but is now long gone and only a few loose bricks remain.

Peppercorn Trees were a favourite back then as they were almost drought proof, evergreen and gave good shade.

I hoped to have more info but it is hard to find the 'old locals' that knew this side of town. I haven't given up so 'stay tuned'.

You can park off the highway which is busy so please watch the children.
Bring your own pen, pencil or thumb print.
Most of all 'Have Fun in Echuca'

An update on this area. As you drive down to the old "T" section you will see a concrete block on your left. It had always been a bit of a mystery to me as I thought it must have been a stand for a water pump. But no.... it used to carry an Electrical Transformer when the main power came from Shepparton. Now it comes from the Substation on the Kyabram Road.
