Founded in 1850, Alliance experienced much industrial growth as a railroad town. Today, the University of Mount Union is the heart of the Alliance community, founded in 1846 and set on a picturesque 123-acre campus. Mount Union also offers nearby Huston Brumbaugh Nature Center with 162-acres, visitor center, bird observatory, trails and boardwalk. Alliance's downtown area is experiencing an urban renewal with unique finds like The Troll Hole and the Cat Fanciers' Museum.
