Bananas are the major export article to European countries. More than 90% of Canarian bananas are exported, most of them from Tenerife. 35.000 people in Canary Islands are busy in the Production of the bananas, it is supported by means of the National government. Unfortunately the cultivation is no more profitable, therefore the banana farmers are more inclined to sell their ground to private investors.

Hoy en dia, El plátano es el principal artículo de exportación a países europeos. Más del 90% de los plátanos canarios se exportan, la mayoría de ellos procedentes de Tenerife. Unas 35.000 personas en islas Canarias, están relacionados con la producción de plátanos, que es subvencionado por el Gobierno Central. Lamentablemente su cultivo ya no es rentable, por to tanto, los productores bananeros están más inclinados a vender su tierra a inversores privados.
