Geocache Description:

Peninsula Point Two Rivers Historical Park is located at the confluence of the Rum River and Mississippi River. This is probably the nicest park in Anoka.

The park is accessible by the first roadway entrance just north of the Champlin/Anoka bridge on highway 169 (there is a stoplight and a sign at that intersection). The road winds around a bit. You will pass by the old Klein Sanitorium which is now apartments, but is still a neat old building to see.

The Rum and Mississippi Rivers truly provide early histories and traveled highways to many of Minnesota's greatest explorers. In the early 1850's visitors would travel by river, by the thousands, to this park.
In 1995, the city received a $450,000 grant to reconstruct and build this unique historic park and to provide, protect, and preserve the city's tremendous history.

You will need to take a little tour of the park to get to the cache, bring your kids and your fishing pole. Dogs are allowed if leashed.

Park hours are 6am -11pm.

The coordinates put you in the parking lot.

From there go to "The Meeting Place" (11.492, 23.490) which is located near the restrooms/picnic area. It is informational sign that is interesting. Take note of the "rivers" winding along the sidewalk there.

Continue your tour at the HUGE green ash tree on the other side of the parking lot and move southward - then around the paved trail from there, all information is given at the interpretive markers. (no math involved)
The coodinates will be the number in front of the correct answer. The positions are the letter before the question.

Now you can sit down at the small amphitheater. These cut stones (seen throughout the park), are the original stones from the 1850's construction of the St. Paul County Courthouse.

The cache container is a metal prescription screw-top tube containing a log sheet, (YOU WILL NEED YOUR OWN PENCIL) there is really not any room for trading goodies.
Use stealth at the final - if you need to you can sit down and watch the river for a bit until you can retrieve the cache. ***Please, please, please re-hide it well.

Trouble with the cache? Please E-Mail me for help.

I hope you enjoy this park and the little history lesson.

Update 6/7/07 - Cache has been moved and the puzzle updated. I have added coords for each of the markers to comply with gc.com policy but you don't need them - really!. The new final is NOT handicapped accessible, but the markers still are, so if you are handicapped, do the tour and email me the final coords for credit.

Update 8/14/15 - Two of the signs are not readable in their current condition so questions pertaining to those signs have been eliminated. Goechecker added for those who want to check their solutions.

Update 6/15/23 - The sign honoring "Minnesota State Champion" is missing. Not sure if it will be returning (or not).

I still consider this to be a BEGINNERS cache, the final should be fairly easy to find and is lightly camouflaged (although may be covered with leaves).
