I was coming home late from work one night and I passed by this section of woods. Was that some movement in the woods? I thought better of it but curiosity got the better of me so I stopped to see what was going on. I grabbed my flashlight and entered the woods. I saw a path heading off to the right and what looked like fresh tracks. I got a short distance down the trail when I heard the sharp sign of a branch breaking up ahead. The hairs on the back of my neck stood straight out. I knew now I was not alone in these woods tonight. As I stood perfectly still I could hear footsteps heading off up the trail ahead of me and what sounded like erie music playing off in the distance. Should I go on or turn back?
I decided that I've made it this far and there was no turning back. On I went down the trail. The music got louder. I could swear I heard voices, but who be out in these woods at night? I continued on. It almost sounded like some form of chanting, get louder and louder. There was a sharp cry and the chanting stopped. I quickly hurried down the trail and I could hear the russling sounds of people scattering off in all directions. I could not believe the scene I stumbled upon. What type of evil lurks in these woods?
My heart was pounding out of my chest as I heard strange sounds coming from just out of range of my flashlight. It sounded like it/they were closing in on me. I couldn't take it anymore. Panic set it as I turned around and raced back up the trail I just came down. I tripped and sprawled out on the ground. My flashlight fell away from my hands and went out. I thought I felt something touch my leg as a cold breeze came over me. I jumped to my feet and thrashed through the woods as fast as I could go. Something was chasing me. Just as I thought it was going to catch me I broke clear of the woods and was back out on the road. There was utter silence with the exception for my heavy breathing.
I walked back to my car, shivering, sweaty, out of breath. I couldn't stop shaking. I got into my car and finished my ride home. I thought about telling my wife about what I just saw, but didn't think she would believe me. I'm not sure even I believe it happened. Did I just imagine that whole thing?
To this day I avoid this section of woods. I always have the feeling that someone is watching me, hoping that I will return so they can finish what they started. Do you dare enter these woods?
