Geocache Description:

Our first geocache, in memory of a very special lady who always put others first.

The what...

You're looking for a small (palm of your hand) clear plastic clip-lid container, covered in black tape.  This could easily be a cache and dash with care on this narrow road, but if you've got time there are loads of fantastic walking routes with stunning views so well worth making a day of it with other caches in the wider area.

Pencil and log book included along with treasure.

The where...

Nestled in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Conholt Hill and Chute Causeway offer some stunning views toward Fosbury Hill Fort and northeast over the lower ground of Hampshire and Berkshire. In the summer, the owners of the nearby Conholt Park occasionally open their grounds to the public including a large, foot-shaped maze (details can be found online).

The why...

Mrs Mac's mum was pretty special - as are all mums! - but quietly battled with myelodysplastic syndrome (a type of blood cancer), for a number of years.  10 years ago on the day of hiding this cache we had to say goodbye, and we wanted to mark the day by doing something that special lady would have had great fun with. She would have loved geocaching and would be chuffed to bits that you've found her very own cache!  The pin badge in the cache is significant, please don't remove it, it's glued in and we'd like it to stay - thank you!

Safety

The roads here are narrow but relatively quiet.  The cache is located on a lane leading to Conholt Farm and farm vehicles are possible; please keep a close eye on children and dogs.  There is no specific parking, though for a quick cache and dash you could pull over at the field entrance on the fork in the road, but always give way to farm vehicles.  If you're taking in a walk, there are lots of routes to choose from but for the less-mobile bear in mind these routes may cross tussocky grassland, include styles, and some very steep hills.
