Fort Amherst is our one of our favourite places in all seasons.
We all read the warnings to cache at our own risk, and we go on to discover some spectacular sights as well as some kind of messy asides. Last winter, plans to introduce a new cacher to snowshoeing along a great nearby series trail came to an abrupt hault through discovering someone that had succumbed to a heart attack while snowshoeing with his best friend: his dog. The following months made me realize we really do need to be prepared in our minds for whatever we may encounter during our caching fun. We have gained a beautiful new family member (an energetic borador) the day he lost his master. I often come here to reflect, remember, pray and try to make peace with what our jaunts off the beaten path can lead to. This cache is placed in memory of a man whose entire life was dedicated to his dog. Hope you enjoy the view.
