This is my first placing of a geocache! The Spleen Brigade and Rasputin’s Monster helped me set this cache… a first for all of us! We selected the Soledad Rocks for a couple of reasons. There are no current caches in the area, we get out here fairly frequently, and the view is fantastic!! We parked at the paved road & walked in. There is a Jeep trail that can take you closer, but the hike is not to long either way. It is a fairly easy hike, but the last bit is a bit of a scramble up a rock hill. I was originally going to set the cache on the highest peak, but decided that I didn’t want to make it to hard. (let me know if anyone is interested in more technical challenges requiring rope work to achieve etc. I think it would be fun.)
To start of the treasure, there is a stuffed chicken, stuffed bat, a couple of McDonalds toys in their bags, a ring, a monster to hold the ring, a Hawaiian lei, and a couple of German kinder eggs. There is a camera with the log book so I can get some pics of fellow geocachers.
Don’t forget, this is the desert… It is hot in the summer, bring plenty of water! The flora and the fauna both bite. Be especially aware of snakes, they love the rocks.
