Geocache Description:

Welcome to Belleville!

The Belleville Congregational Church was founded by Rev. Cushing Eells in 1878. The church building was erected at this cache's location in 1879. The building sustained severe damage in the flood of 1910 and was eventually torn down. The property on which it stood was sold to the city and repurposed as a park named in Eells’s honor. Rev. Eells was the founder of Whitman College in Walla Walla.

Belleville factoid: In 1916, with the advent of prohibition in Washington State, Belleville was forced to get rid of its liquor supply. Under the supervision of a state revenue officer, 14,000 gallons of beer was poured into the North Palouse River. It was claimed that many men stationed themselves along the banks of the river to get a last taste of good old Belleville beer. - from a book by Edith E. Erickson

Notes:
(4/28/2019) Due to Muggles we have moved this hide once again. New coords and hint are in place.
(3/20/16 - Due to muggle activity this one has been moved about 20 feet from the posted coords. Geo-senses should point you to the likeliest spot. Please use stealth.)
(5/24/16 - Updated/corrected the hint.)

A family of muggles loves to play hide-and-seek here, so stealth may be required. You will need to bring your own writing implement to sign the log.
