Geocache Description:

There are 6 main types of Chemical Reactions.  Thought they may look look like gobeldygook the first time you look at them, identifying what type of reaction you’re looking at is pretty easy.

1 = Decomposition Reaction: A reaction where one reactant yields two or more products.

2 = Synthesis Reaction: The construction of complex chemical compounds from simpler ones.

3 = Combustion Reaction: Oxygen combines with a substances to release heat or light energy.

4 = Single Displacement: One element is replaced by another in a compound.

5 = Double displacement: The cations and anions of two different compounds switch places, forming two entirely different compounds.

6 = Acid Base Reaction: The exchange of one or more protons (H+ ions) between compounds.

You will need to identify the type of chemical reaction and do the basic math below to solve the puzzle.

N40 ZY.XWV  W105 0U.TSR

Z = (A + G) – (H + J)

Y = G – I

X = C

W = (B + D)  -  I

V = (E + F) – J

U = G

T = H + D

S = B

R = D – I
