Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the published co-ordinates.

Cunningham's Gap stands between two prominent Peaks; Mt Cordeaux to the right and Mt Mitchell on the left. These two peaks form part of the 60 km long Main Range and part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area. Welcome to part of the Main Range National Park.

As you have driven up Cunningham's Highway towards Cunningham's Gap and looked up at that BIG triangular cliff in front of you have you ever wanted to go up there to see the view? Well now you have an excuse. There is a cache up there.

This hike is along the Mt Mitchell track which is the only track on the southern side of the road (Please be VERY careful crossing the road to get to the start of the track). The hike is 10.2 km return hike with it being uphill all the way to the summit and obviously downhill all the way back. Please allow 3-4 hours to complete this hike. I did it in three. Towards the top there are sections where there is sheer cliffs close to the edge of the track but far enough away that you should not be able to trip and fall, but you will see the edge.

You will pass through several vegetation types along the way and may encounter a variety of animals as well. I saw an Echidna on the day I placed the cache. Also there is amazing views to the west as you pass around the west peak and of course stunning views east from the summit lookout. In the gallery there is a couple of photo's from the information boards at or near the car parking area and start of the track, please read this information as it will give you an idea of the track, what to take, and what to expect along the way.

Parking is available at the start of the track with toilets available there as well. The Cache You will need to hike all the way to the summit lookout to read three signs along the way. There is no need to leave the track to read any of these signs.

 Final Co-ordinates are S 28 0A.BCD E 152 2E.FGH

The three sign are the lower Warning sign @ Waypoint 1, the Top warning sign @ waypoint 2 and the sign at the published co-ords.

A =  The Waypoint 2, how many sides does the sign have?

B =  The sign at the published co-ords, count the number of letters (and add together) in the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th words in the 3 lines of the body of this sign, then divide by 4 (four).

C =  At Waypoint 1, What should you supervise? How many letters are in this word?

D = At Waypoint 1, There is a Si number (4 digits) in the bottom left corner of the sign. What is the 1st digit of that number, subtracted by the 4th digit?

E =  The Waypoint 2, how many colours does the sign have (when first printed)?

F =  The sign at the published co-ords, there is a Si number (3 digits) in the bottom left corner of the sign. Add the three digits together.

G =  At Waypoint 1, How many letters in the first bold word on the heading of this sign (beneath the titled one word line), and then subtract two from this number.

H =  The sign at the published co-ords, count the number of letters in the first line (bold text) and subtract 10 (ten).

Check sum ; A+B+C+D+E+F+G+H = 35

Please remember, there is no need to step off of the track to read these signs.

At GZ, 1 step off of the track is all you need to reach the cache. The vegetation along all sections of the this track is protected so please take care when searching for the final. You will be able to see the location from track.
