Geocache Description:

The coords bring you to the outside of Kent History and Library centre in Maidstone which opened in April 2012.

Today however we are learning about the artwork in front named Two Stones. This piece of sculpture was commissioned by Kent County Council in 1979 and created by Antony Gormley while he was completing his studies at Maidstone College of Art.

It was exhibitied on the lawn of the Serpentine Gallery for 2 months in 1981 before it was moved to sit on the banks of Singleton Lake in Ashford. Sadly due to extensive vandalism it was removed in 2010 and underwent major refurbishment by specialist in Telford, Shropshire.

It was winched into its new home in August 2013 causing delays on the local roads.

It is composed of an eight-tonne water-hewn granite from Scotland and a bronze and concrete replica.

At the way point you will see a Street name sign.
