Fonte dos Namorados Traditional Cache

A Rede das Aldeias do Xisto é um projeto de desenvolvimento sustentável, de âmbito regional, liderado pela ADXTUR- Agência para o Desenvolvimento Turístico das Aldeias do Xisto, em parceria com 21 Municípios da Região Centro e com cerca de 100 operadores privados que atuam no território.

Estado presentes em quatro Unidades de Paisagem (Serra da Lousã, Serra do Açor, Zêzere e Tejo-Ocreza), as Aldeias do Xisto representam um belíssimo património cultural e natural. Com vastas possibilidades que vão desde a gastronomia à etnografia, das ruralidades e da ligação à natureza e à floresta, as Aldeias do Xisto têm enorme potencial turístico e não só.

O projeto Geocaching Aldeias do Xisto propõe aumentar a oferta de pontos de interesse associados a esta prática da caça ao tesouro do sec. XXI. Pretende dotar cada aldeia com pelo menos duas caches e integrar algumas já existentes em circuitos e percursos pedestres.

The Schist Villages area is a region of Portugal’s interior that has successfully been promoted to tourists. The brand is managed by the ADXTUR association, the Agency for the Touristic Development of the Schist Villages, and brings together 21 Municipalities of the central region of Portugal, and more than 100 private local operations, which all share the common strategy of promoting and revitalising an area where schist stone dominates the landscape.

Present in four Landscape Units (Serra da Lousã, Serra do Açor, Zêzere and Tejo-Ocreza), the Schist Villages represent a beautiful cultural and natural heritage. With vast possibilities ranging from gastronomy to ethnography, rurality and the connection to nature and to the forest, the Schist Villages have enormous touristic potential, among others.

The Geocaching Schist Villages Project proposes to increase the offer of points of interest associated with this practice treasure hunting of the XXI century. It intends to equip each village with at least two caches and integrate some already existent in circuits and pedestrian routes.

“Em tempos, vinham os rapazes da Ponte do Sotão e também de outras aldeias, como por exemplo, do Franco da Lousã aqui à Aigra desafiar as raparigas, e subiam por um carreiro que vai dar a uma fonte e aí paravam. As raparigas, para as mães não desconfiarem que elas iam ter com os rapazes, diziam que iam à fonte buscar água. Enchiam o caneco e, de seguida, iam a casa despejar a água e diziam às mães que já não havia água e que, por isso, tinham que voltar à fonte. Assim, enquanto o caneco da água enchia na fonte, as raparigas iam namorando com os rapazes que na fonte esperavam por elas. Esta geocache está inserida junto a uma das Aldeias do Xisto do concelho de Góis, Aigra Nova, em plena Serra da Lousã. Não está escondida no muro.

Com vista panorâmica para a Serra da Lousã, particularmente para o Trevim - ponto mais alto da serra com 1205 metros de altitude, esta cache dá a conhecer um dos principais símbolos nos namoricos à moda antiga, típico em muitas aldeias portuguesas.

“A long time ago, boys would come from Ponte do Sotão and also other villages, for example from Franco da Lousã, to Aigra to dare girls, and they would come by a trail to the fountain. The girls would tell their mothers they would go to get water. For the mothers not to suspect, the girls would say they were going to the spring to fetch water, and there meet the boys. They filled the ewer and then went back home only to pour the water way so that they had to go back to the source. So while the ewer filled, the girls and boys would have some time together ” Dª. This geocahe is hidden in the surroundings of a Schist Village from Góis Municipality, Aigra Nova.

With a panoramic view of the mountain, we can see Trevim, the highest point with 1205 meters. In this fountain, known as the "puppy love" fountain, where adolescents used to come with the excuse to get water but only to spend some time with their crushes. This was a common way to date in many portuguese villages back in the day.
