Geocache Description:

I've always enjoyed logic problems. This one will give you a way to find the geocache.

In the following text, I refer to degrees, minutes and seconds. Using the listed north coordinates as an example, we see that they are 39 degrees north, 07 minutes north and 600 seconds north.

Denise and four of her friends are avid geocachers. Recently, they got together to talk about geocaches in the mid-Atlantic region. Five geocaches came up in the course of the conversation. Each geocacher had only found one of the caches. Can you figure out the location of the five finds from the following clues?

  • Although none of the friends raved about caches outside of the 39th parallel, they ranged between 75 and 78 degrees west, including at least one in each degree, and were in five different states.
  • From north to south, the caches are the one in Pennsylvania, the cache furthest west, a cache with north minutes 08, the cache with the lowest seconds west and the cache 19 minutes west of a degree longitude.
  • From east to west, the caches are the cache found by Bernard, one with 506 seconds north, one 47 minutes west, the cache furthest south, and the one in West Virginia.
  • In order of increasing west minutes, the caches are 096 seconds north, the cache found by Chris, 24 west minutes, the cache at minute 49.506 and the cache found by Evan.
  • The cache found by Amanda and the cache with 722 seconds west are at higher north seconds than the cache 24 minutes west and the one 26 minutes north.
  • None of the minutes or seconds on any of the five caches is the same.
  • The numbers 03, 07, 631, 818 and 981 are associated with five different caches.
  • The cache at 219 seconds north is further east than the one at 02 minutes west.
  • The cache found in Virginia and the cache at 38 minutes both have higher seconds west than the cache at minute 08 and the cache with 775 seconds north.
  • The cache with 544 seconds west and the cache with 471 seconds north are further south than the cache in Delaware and the cache Amanda found.
  • The cache with the highest west seconds and the cache in Maryland share the same west degree.

A note about hints: This may be a hard logic problem, but it is solvable with the information given. Before FTF, no logic hints will be given. After FTF, logic hints will only be given with complete information on what you've already got, and it will be along the lines of "did you consider how this interacts with this?" Hide hints, as well, will only be available after FTF.
