This cache is dedicated to all the hiders who place caches which
make the hunter figure out the correct coordinates. Especially
erik88l-r,
mtn-man,
and Slayerette
whose caches like this I have had the pleasure of finding.
The cache coordinates on the page are not the location of the
cache, they are the trailhead, so you will at least know where to
start.
The coordinates to the cache are N34 45.X89 W83
56.Y01
The trailhead is in Vogel State Park, so if you don’t have an annual park pass you will have to
pay a $5.00 parking fee. But the cache is in the
national forest. It is west of the park at an overlook on a
mountain, which has a good view of the lake in the park. Check the
pictures.
There is no parking at the trailhead, you need to park near the
lake or office and walk to the trail head. Once you start at
the trailhead, you need to follow the trail blazes to the green
blazes, then follow the green blazes to the overlook. After resting
because you have just climbed about 800 feet you should be able to
find the cache. Borrowing a term from Trailfrogs who got it from
Sparc77, the cache is not "aggressively hidden". The cache is like
most of mine, a 30 caliber ammo box, painted green with a caching
label on it. As you get close you will see an obvious hiding spot.
That is where the cache is. It has several items including some of
the now famous Lacy Geocaching Nickels, some of my Geocaching
decals and magnets, plus an odd assortment of other items. Note the
cache is only about 62 feet off the trail, please be careful if
non-cachers are around. The trail is very popular.
Now what are the coordinates of the cache:
I guess you are wondering how figure out what X and Y in the
coordinates are, well believe it or not there is enough information
in the description to figure it out. You just need to use
topographic maps. You can use paper copies or computer topo
programs
