This grassy area was once a part of Essex Road. This last stretch before the intersection of Essex Road and Asbury Ave incorporates a sharp turn. This part of the roadway was not well lit at night; now throw in speeding cars and its narrow roadway. This resulted in many accidents at this specific location. In 2013 The Borough of Tinton Falls decided to relocate and realign Asbury Ave/ Essex Road/ Pine Street. In 2015 the new intersection was complete resulting in a safer roadway. This old dangerous part of Essex Road is now blocked off and the street was ripped up and filled in with grass
