It is said the town's name "Shimpo-cho" comes from Cho Shimpo, a medical doctor in Ming Dynasty period of China, who reclaimed new rice field in this district in 17th century.

名古屋振甫郵便局は、名古屋市千種区振甫町の住宅街にある旧特定郵便局です。
振甫町の名の由来は、明国からの帰化人で医師の張振甫が拓いた新田の場所がこの辺りだったからだと言われています。
この郵便局は上に示したオリジナルの風景印を備えています。図案は名古屋市水道局の東山給水塔です（平成27年11月現在）。
