Secret Loop Trail Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dogliest: This cache had a lot of work (123 finds in 5 years), so it is time to give it a retirement. Besides, its hiding spot is now too open as the city has cleared away a lot of underbrush to keep out homeless camps. Look for its replacement soon!

Geocache Description:

Loop trails are especially popular with dogs because they provide new smells to explore for the entire walk. This loop trail around Taku Lake is a great 3/4 mile dog walk hidden behind an industrial area of Anchorage.

You are looking for a small-size cache that is intended to draw cachers to this wonderful trail in the Anchorage park system. The cache is close to the main trail and visible, but also well-camouflaged to hide it from muggle eyes. Beginning cachers might be fooled at first, but they will probably find it soon enough. Please be sure the cache is secure after you finish your mischief.

Moose are very common in the area, and I have seen fox and bear tracks in the snow around the lake. There are some Homo sapien camps deeper in the woods. I even once saw a fallen tree moving through the brush here like a shark fin through the ocean -- guess what that was!

GPS readings are tough here due to it being a low point in town, and the dense forest, and probably a kryptonite outcropping -- feel free to post your own readings in your log.
