Geocache Description:

Here in Louisiana we enjoy an extraordinary wetland area that is different from anyplace else on earth—the Atchafalaya Basin. Stop at the Welcome Center off I-10 for a visit and maybe a nice picnic!

The Atchafalaya Basin is the largest contiguous river swamp in the United States. Home to some of Louisiana's signature wildlife - alligators, roseate spoonbills, water moccasins and crawfish, to name a few - and spectacular views of the intersection of plant life, animal life, water and weather, the Atchafalaya Basin has long called to fishermen, photographers, hunters and those who simply enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of nature.

Enjoy your visit to the welcome center and the beautiful sites of the Basin as you travel across the bridge.

This cache is named after a kind employee of the Welcome Center named Chris.  He helped us retrieve the cache after a little difficulty.  Please place cache back exactly as found. Bring your own pen... FTF - Way to go TexasWriter
