Geocache Description:

An inlet is a stream of water leading inland as coming from an ocean as seen here. The definition of the word “ breach” means a break or a cut and it seems logical that this is how the inlet was so named.

Sullivan's Island from Isle of Palms were broken (separated) by Breach Inlet. Hurricanes before 1700 are thought to be the cause of the breach. This very thing happened most recently during Hurricane Sandy when the storm created three separate breaches at New York’s Fire Island.

The coordinates take you to a marker (double sided) where you can learn about this Inlet and observe it.  The marker is right by a parking lot.

You will need to e-mail or message me the answers (If doing as a group I prefer you send one for all) to the below questions (Do NOT post answers or spoilers in your log).

1) Why do the shore and the sandbars here change constantly?
2) Estimate the width of the Inlet where it passes under the bridge?
3) Why is it a bad idea to get in the water here?
4) Optional photo of the inlet so everyone can see how it changes over time.

THIS EARTHCACHE SHOULD ONLY TAKE YOU 5 MINUTES (10 MINUTES TOPS). I AM NOT A NIT PICKY CACHE OWNER, BUT I HAVE GOT ANSWERS THAT AMOUNT TO SOMEONE DRIVING BY AND GUESSING. THE ANSWERS TO 1 & 3 ARE AT THE COORDINATES AND #2 IS BY YOUR OBSERVATION.
