For the first time ever on the weekend of November 5-8, 2015, geocachers hosted 454 geocaching events around the world to screen the selected winners of the third annual Geocahcing International Film Festival publicly for the first time. One of these screenings, GIFF Weekend 2015: Tacoma (GC628G8), was held at nearby Pacific Lutheran University with 60+ attendees. For the film festival, Geocaching HQ recieved 81 film submissions from 20 different countries and their team of judges narrowed these down to the 16 winning films. The films represented 10 different countries!
The container that you're searching for was revealed at GIFF Weekend 2015: Tacoma and served as the logbook for the event itself. If you look on the inside walls of the container, you can see the usernames of all the geocachers who attended the event. This cache is hidden on the old PLU golf course. The land was donated in 1937 to the university and served as an active full golf course for the community up until 2011 when it was closed to make way for new multipurpose recreation and athletic fields on lower campus. No longer being used as a golf course, this space is now open to the public year-round. I encourage you to meander your way through the old golf course and enjoy this little oasis of wilderness within the surrounding city. While you're here, make sure to also check out the beautiful university campus just across the street!
This geocache is dedicated to all of the filmmakers and attendees of GIFF Weekend 2015: Tacoma. Thank you for making this unique cache possible!
