Cottage bound! As soon as we turned off Hwy 117 on to Winder’s Bay Road, no matter the time of day or season of year, he would roll down his window, lean his head out as far as he could and breathe in the fresh country air. Welcome to paradise.
Winder’s Bay is named after Alfred Winder. During the Great Depression, he and his wife, both Baysville residents, acquired most of the land on the western part of Echo Lake, the area now known as Winder’s Bay. Based on an early surveyor’s notes, there are seven different locations on Echo Lake where a clear echo can be heard. Winder’s Bay is one of them. Nathan loved sitting by the water, listening to the call of the loons echoing across the lake. He also took great pleasure in the reverberating echoes of family fireworks!!
The cache is located on Winder’s Bay Road, right after you turn off Hwy. 117. The road is wide enough to safely pull over to the side. This should be a fairly quick park and grab. Please BYOP.
