The first thing you may notice is that the model isn't exactly spherical as you might expect, but this is a simplified model anyway and so not a perfect one. For our purposes here I think you will appreciate it.
Explanation (aka stuff you might want to read or you may not)
The spherical cow is a humorous metaphor representing a highly over-simplified scientific model designed to represent some very complex real life phenomena. The implication is that the problem has been reduced to a very simple form in order to make the model calculations manageable; however, the over simplification often renders the model's application to reality impracticable and it's predictions non-realistic. The concept of the spherical cow is so well known in scientific circles that it is sometimes referenced in discourse without further explanation.
Example
A real life historic example of a "Spherical Cow" is the Bohr model or the Rutherford–Bohr model of the atom which basically depicts the atom to be a positively charged nucleus surrounded by negatively charged electrons that rotate in circular orbits around it; similar in structure to the solar system (which has also recently been shown to be another over-simplification). Niels Bohr introduced his model in 1913 but it was quickly superseded by quantum theory introduced by Heisenberg, Schrödinger (some of you may know about his cat - see GC5JY7Y nearby) and others who demonstrated that electrons don't orbit the nucleus in the sense of a planet orbiting the sun, but instead exist as standing waves around a nucleus. Incidentally Bohr's model actually did describe the atomic structure of one element (hydrogen - the simplest atom) rather well, but it cannot be applied to the structure of any other element in the periodic table. The Bohr model is still used today as an introductory teaching concept; however, the whole scientific field of quantum mechanics and quantum theory provides a far more accurate description of atomic structure and chemical bonding theory which is still evolving today.
Sorry if this has disrupted anyone's paradigm.
Epilogue (you really should read this part)
After you have solved the field puzzle (hey check out the photos) please disassemble bossy completely and "randomise" the puzzle for the next finder. Thanks. Checker is included in case you need it as well as some photos (below) that might also prove useful. Good Luck and Have Fun.
