This cache has been archived.

kctrumpet: It was a blast. Thank you, everyone who participated, for making this a really special event. Thanks, too, to the sound men who helped it happen and the keystone cops who kept it interesting. See you next year!!

Geocache Description:

Enter the "Gateway to the Southwest" and join with geocachers from all over the world to enjoy five festive minutes of fun and frolic at our flash mob. Start time: Loitering near coordinates begins at 5:15 p.m. Core activity time: clustering/dance begins at 5:30 pm. End time: Complete dispersal to dinner and/or drinks by 5:45 p.m.

A flash mob happens when people assemble suddenly, perform a brief, odd act, then quickly disperse. At this one, you can meet and laugh with many of the geocachers who will be attending the Yuma Mega Event #13.

Arrive at the Old Town area near the coordinates a few minutes before 5:30 p.m. Bring a shawl, boa, jacket, or other piece of clothing that can be easily removed -- but remember this is a family-friendly event. Wearing that piece of extra clothing, try to be near, but not at the coordinates, looking nonchalant. A microphoned male voice will begin everything promptly at 5:30 p.m. by emulating a carnival barker, calling the crowd to "Step right up and see the show," etc. Immediately, participants should gather in the roundabout, facing outward, away from the fountain on all sides. Be sure to still be wearing your extra piece of clothing that can be removed seductively. The music will start, and everyone will do a wild and crazy dance, removing the boa, jacket (or whatever), pretending to do a silly strip dance. Use your extra piece of clothing as a prop by waving or twirling it and making other stripper moves. Please, however, keep this family friendly, as there will be children in attendance. The dance will be interrupted by the sound of old-fashioned police whistles, which will signal the end of the event. Quickly wander away from the fountain area.

While you are there, you'll want to explore the great restaurants available in Old Town. Also, you may enjoy gathering with your fellow geocachers at any of the nearby taverns.
