'uddersfield 'ogmanay 2016 Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Penfolio: Well folks I think it's about time to call time on this listing.

Thank you all for making 'uddersfield ''ogmanay one of the liveliest social events of the year, year after year.

Huge thanks to Clare CnJnA, and her helpers for making such a massive success of the raffle. I almost lost my voice shouting out all the winning ticket numbers but, it was so worth it when we totted up your generosity - Holme Valley MRT once again proving to be a cause close to all our hearts. How we could even hope to equal that next year, I just don't know.

Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed myself and once again, tried but failed to get around to say hello to each and every one of you - I'll just have to try harder next year.

Scribble a note in the back of your diaries... same time next year?

Where?

The Head of Steam
St Georges Square, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, HD1 1JB Tel. 01484 454533

When?

Tuesday 5th January 2016 : 7:00PM - 11:00PM

The Head of Steam

The Head of Steam is a pub housed in the Grade 1 listed railway station buildings and, it may be accessed directly from Platform 1. The main entrance to the pub is from St. Georges Square.

Being well served by local and regional public transport links, you may choose to leave the car at home and take the opportunity to sample a few glasses of whatever tickles your fancy. That is of course, so long as you're not still suffering from the excesses of the holiday season.

Finding your way back home?

Train station, 0 metres.
Taxi rank, stumbling distance.
Free on street car parking (after 6pm), 100 metres.
Bus station, 250 metres.

Those of us that enjoy our real ales will be well catered for as the pub has 10 well maintained hand pumps knocking out the good stuff. There's usually a selection of guest ales, guest lagers, cider and stouts too.

*Unlike previous years, food is now only served until 7:30pm. A menu is available online at the Head of Steam website and, includes light bites, soup, sandwiches, salads, pasta, burgers, pizza.

If enough of us want to eat, the pub manager is happy to keep the kitchen open a little later but, I will need to show them that it's worth their while. So, if you are planning to eat after 7.30pm, please be sure to let me know how many in your party will be wanting food. Then a week or two before the event, I'll pass the numbers onto the pub and, let you know whether we've got enough diners to justify a extended kitchen hours.

CnJnA will have a stash of Mega Wales 2016 geocoins upon their persons. Clare will be selling these coins alongside the Xmas re-gifting raffle tickets.

...which leads me to - and this is of course, terribly important so don't forget. All those unwanted/unclaimed Christmas pressies, the ones that'll otherwise just sit in a cupboard, never again to see the light of day; bring 'em along and we'll raffle 'em off. Through your generosity over the last few years, we have made some sizeable donations to many worthwhile causes. Hopefully we can do the same again this year as we continue our support of Holme Valley MRT.
