#46 Our Emerald Isle: Killarney Road-Killarney Town
Killarney town is in County Cork. Near the town is Ross Castle constructed in the 14th
century and later restored, the Gap of Dunloe, and Killarney National Park of 24,000 acres.
Christmas in Killarney is an Irish Christmas song with a 1950 copyright and was written by
John Redmond, James Cavanaugh, and Frank Weldon. It has been sung by many artists,
most notably Bing Crosby. Among other artists who recorded the song are Anne Murray in
1981 and the Irish Rovers in 2002.
The holly green, the ivy green, The prettiest picture you've ever seen,
It's Christmas in Killarney, With all of the folks at home.
It's nice you know, to kiss your beau While cuddling under the mistletoe,
And Santa Claus you know, of course, Is one of the boys from home.
The door is always open. The neighbors play a call.
And Father John before he's gone, Will bless the house and all.
How grand it feels to click your heels And join in the fun of the jigs and reels.
I'm handing you no blarney, The likes you've never known,
It's Christmas in Killarney, With all of the folks at home. Happy Holidays!
