Crescent Jct Rest Area Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

GeoFerd: Unfortunately someone has stolen this ammo can cache and all its contents. Very disheartening so I’ve decided to archive this one after 8 years and leave the area for someone new to set one up hopefully. This has always been my busiest cache by far. It’s a great location with tons of travelers.

Geocache Description:

Utah I-70 eastbound rest area at Crescent Junction sits atop a tall mesa hill overlooking the entire Grand County, with terrific views of the La Sal mountains to the south at Moab, the bookcliffs scanning west & east to the north, and the Henry mountain range to the southwest.  A great place to take a break from driving, use of the sites restrooms, and to stretch the legs with a short hike to go GeoCaching (and dog friendly).

Cache is a short hike across the mesa top southwest of the rest area's facilities.  Container is a steel ammo can full of swag items and a FTF glass button for the FTF geocacher.  This is an open area away from the road, welcoming those with dogs.  Note the Henry mountains to the far west, and there is a slight trail looping the southeast edge of the mesa with outstanding views of the La Sal mountains at Moab, and the open Grand County valley between Arches Nat'l Park & I-70.  Great cache for traveling trackables!
