Geocache Description:

Tasmanian Devils are the world's largest carnivorous marsupials and are a uniquely Tasmanian icon.

Over the last decade their survival has been threatened by the Devil Facial Tumour Disease.  This devastating disease has decimated numbers with an estimated 80 percent of the population wiped out.

In 2008 the Devil's status was formally upgraded to 'Endangered' under Tasmania's Threatened Species Protection Act.

In mid September 2015, twenty captive bred Devils were released back into the wild into the nearby Narawntapu National Park.  These Devils had been given a specially developed vaccine to fight the disease.

Regrettably, just days after their release, two of the Devils were killed on the local roads.

In mid October 2015, distinctive road side signs were erected, warning of Devils in the area. The cache is located near the site of one of these 'Endangered Devil' signs.  Please drive carefully.

Congratulations on the FTF... sscharlie.
