Historischer Darnay Weinkeller - Museum und Probierstube
Dr. Béla Dornyay (Naturwissenschaftler und Forscher) erbte nach dem 1. Weltkrieg ein Grundstück mit einem alten Weinkeller in Gyenesdiás. Andere hätten dieses baufällige Gebäude schon längst abgerissen. Der Wissenschaftler erkannte aber kulturhistorische und volkskundliche Schätze in diesem Keller und ließ ihn in seinen ursprünglichen Zustand wiederherstellen. Er stellte nämlich fest, dass der Keller ausschließlich aus dicken Eichenholzbalken ohne ein Stück Eisen erbaut wurde. Selbst seine schwere Tür aus Eichenholz drehte sich auf einem Holzdübel und konnte mit einem hölzernen Riegel verschlossen werden. Der Keller ist ein Beleg typischer Volksarchitektur aus dem 17. JH. Ein vergleichbares Gebäude gibt es heutzutage nicht mehr - weder am Plattensee noch im ganzen Land.
Dieses fast 300 Jahre alte Gebäude ist ein gut erhaltenes Exemplar der einst populären Holzkeller. Nach seinem Bau stand es ca. 200 Jahre lang alleine auf dem Grundstück, bis 1852 an der südlichen Seite ein Kelterhaus ohne Dachboden angebaut wurde. Als das Kelterhaus 1922 umgebaut wurde, kamen große Mengen von Lehm, römischen Schindeltrümmern und Keramikscherben ans Licht. Es zeigt uns, dass derzeit noch viele römische Scherben in den Diáser Weinbergen herumliegen. Zwischen 1993 und 2009 waren der Keller und das Kelterhaus in einem verwahrlosten Zustand. Das Grundstück und die Gebäude gingen in den Besitz der Gemeinde über, und so konnte es 2012 Dank des Gemeindeamtes von Gyenesdiás und dem Quellwasserverein der Naturfreunde restauriert und renoviert werden. Nach dem Abkratzen der Kalkschichten konnte man auf dem riesigen Tragbalken eine eingekerbte Inschrift lesen:
Anno dominy 1644 Jesus Hominum Salvator
Jetzt erwartet die Besucher hier ein Weinmuseum, wo alles "rund um Trauben und den Wein" gezeigt und ausgestellt wird: alte Geräte und Utensilien zur Weinlese und Weinherstellung, Weinpressen, alte Fässer, Werkzeuge, Bilder, alte Fotos und Etiketten.

(HU) Darnay Pince és Szőlészeti Bemutatóudvar
A Balaton és a Bakony természeti ritkaságainak és emberi alkotásainak tudós kutatója és kiváló ismertetője, Dornyay Béla dr. az I. világháború utáni években Gyenesdiáson egy öreg borpincét örökölt. Az alacsony, megroggyant, idejétmúlt épületet az ő helyében mindenki más lebontotta volna. A tudós Dornyay dr. azonban az öreg pincében muvelődéstörténeti és néprajzi kincseket látott, így inkább őseredeti állapotába helyreállíttatta. Mert megállapította, hogy a pince fából, egy darab vas hozzáadása nélkül oly módon épült, ahogyan ma már a Balaton mentén, de az egész ország területén sem építkeznek.
A pince gerezdeléssel és zsilipezéssel egymásba rótt rendkívül vastag deszkákból, un. boronafából készült; ajtaja is súlyos boronaajtó, mely facsapon forog és „kölkes fazárral" csukódik; hornyolt végű hatalmas mestergerendáján, a mészréteg levakarása után, pedig a következő értelmű, szarkalábcsovel felvésett fölirat került elő:

Dornyay dr. azt is megállapította, hogy ez a közel háromszáz esztendős épület, az egykor általánosan dívott fapincék egyik jellegzetes és elég jó karban fennmaradt példánya, építése után kb. 200 évig magányosan állhatott, majd délről 1852-ben építettek, egy padlás nélküli, egyik sarkában, nyílt tűzhelyes présházat. 1922-ben ez a présház átépítésre került. Hatalmas méretű, jó pelyvás és nagyszámú vályog, itt-ott tömésféle és ebben számos római tetőfedo zsindely-töredék, meg római edény-töredék került elő (jeléül annak, hogy a római származású törmelékes anyag, akkortájt még szép számmal heverhetett szanaszét, Diás szőlőhegyein.
1993-tól 2009-ig közt elhanyagolt állapotba került a törökkori pincehajlék és a présház, majd 2012-ben a már önkormányzati tulajdonú épület a köz számára, pályázati úton Gyenesdiás Önkormányzata és a Forrásvíz Természetbarát Egyesület jóvoltából megújulhatott. Ma kiállítótér és borkóstoló is működik benne.

Dr. Béla Dornyay (natural scientist and researcher) inherited an old wine cellar in Gyenesdiás after the first world war. The low, lopsided, old-fashioned building would have been demolished by anyone else. Dr. Dornyay saw though culture- historical and ethnical treasures in the old cellar, and he got it to it´s original condition restored. He noticed the cellar was built from really thick oak balks with no single piece of iron. Also the heavy door which turns on a wooden tongue was made from oak and can be fastened with a wooden lock. The cellar is an evidence of historic importance in memory of typic traditional architecture. Today there is no single building like this - neither at Lake Balaton, nor in the whole country.
Dr. Dornyay appointed, this almost three hundred years old building, one of the typical and well maintained once popular wooden cellars, could have been standing single for good two hundred years. Then in 1852 a press house with open fireplace and with no attic was built on one southern corner. In 1922 the press house was re-built. Many large Roman adobe shingle mummocks and Roman pot snippets came out which means that nowadays a lot of Roman chippings could lay all over on the wine yards of Diás. Between 1993 and 2009 the cellar and press house got into neglected condition, and then in 2012 the building already owned by the council could be renewed by tender thanks to the city council of Gyenesdiás and the Springwater Naturelover Association. On the giant oak beam the following lettering turned up after rubbing the whitewash coat off:

Today it hosts an exhibition place and wine tasting, too. The cellar displays all the utensils used for making wine. Wine is mankind's oldest medicine. Cheers to that indeed! An excellent way to experience many different types of wines of a local winery.
