Geocache Description:

Rainow lies in the foothills of the Pennines straddling the Cheshire boundary of the Peak District National Park. The village gets its name from the Old English Hraefn Hoe meaning Ravens' Hill. It is home to around 2500 people. It is a great place to live and to visit. You can find out more about the history and geography of Rainow through the link below.

http://www.rainow.org/

Rainow is great walking country and if geocaching in the area you would almost certainly benefit from the use of the Rainow Parish Paths map that can be bought very cheaply from a number of sources including the local pub, the Robin Hood Inn. The area is well served by geocaches and this cache along with half a dozen others I am currently putting in place is an attempt to fill some of the few gaps in the area. This cache can be combined with any number of other caches in Rainow to create your own purpose built geocaching walk.

This cache is on the way out of the village towards the Gritstone Trail. You will have walked past Rainow Holy Trinity Parish Church on the left and the Trinity Gardens on the right. The cache is in front of the Millbrook Water Treatment Work on the pavement side of the road. If you carry on up the hill towards the Gritstone Trail you will pass the Rainow War Memorial..

The cache is a magnetic nano. Bring your own pen and tweezers. Note that this is not a Cache and Dash as there is no parking in the immediate vicinity.
