The Jamboree that this cache celebrates is on that was held at Woodhouse in the Adelaide Hills at the end of Australia's bi-centenary year. I was lucky enough to attend it with some of my Balgownie troop and other troops from across the region. I'm sure everyone has things they recall fondly from their jamboree experience but these are mine:
* Bob Hawke closing the bi-centenary on stage.
* We drove across to Adelaide on a bus driven by one of the fathers. What a great adventure in itself- across the Hay plains the windscreen cracked and had to be replaced in Mildura.
* We stopped at the famous Monash playground in the Riverland which no longer has the same old fashioned rides.
* I remember at the Jamboree going windsurfing (which led in later life to an interest in sailing), Swan Reach on the Murray with a night-time fly fishing talk.
* We camped up the top of a hill.
I hope the Scouts that attend the 24th Jamboree also have some life-long memories like me!
