Gold Creek Trailhead Traditional Cache

  We were up here getting the Graywolf Ridge Trialhead cache and decided to place a cache at the lesser known Gold Creek trailhead.  This is at the end of a road that used to cross the Dungeness river and connect with the main road back to hiway 101. The road washed out 25 years ago on both sides of the bridge isolating this trail head.  It's just under a 1/2 mile from the end of the road.

The cache is a small lock n lock inside of a waterproof bag.

To get to the parking lot for this trailhead you will turn left off of the main road 3 miles past the Dungenss Forks Campground.  This road drops back down the mountain to the Dungeness River. The parking lot is at the end of the road (2 miles or so from the intersection) which is the parking lot for both the Gold Creek trailhead and the Lower Dungeness Trailhead.   The cache is just under a 1/2 mile from here.  The trail starts out as the old road which was washed out 25 years ago.  It's in good shape and takes you down to the old moss covered concrete vehicle bridge, which is a beautiful and safe way to cross the river.  This used to be called East Crossing with a campground by the same name just a short distance away.  The campground was taken out once the road washed out.  The cache is located a few hundred feet from the bridge.   The Gold Creek Trail will take you all the way to the Tubal Cain Trailhead through some beautifully awesome country.
