Welcome to the Heathcote Wine Region. Many award winning wines are grown in this region, namely Shiraz.
This is the second of my series in this area. This spot has amazing views of the area, mixing bushland and vineyard scenery and allows the geocacher a chance to stretch their legs if on a long road trip. Especially if making a trip from Melbourne to Echuca or visa versa. This cache is located just inside the Heathcote-Graytown National Park. Nearby, there is a track where you can drive up to the Mt Ida Fire Tower Lookout. You are looking for a tackle box which contains a pen and log, swaps and a FTF Token. Also contains a disposable camera, as a great way for geocachers to mark their visit ☺ Photos to be uploaded by CO HEATHCOTE WINE REGION Nestled in a tranquil bush setting at the foot of the McIvor and McHarg ranges, erstwhile gold-rush town Heathcote is renowned for its world-class shiraz, which can be enjoyed alongside wonderful regional produce. Local textures Red soil and warm summers tempered by cool, southerly winds help produce robust wines of power and weight with great texture. Shiraz is Heathcote's flagship varietal, but it also produces superb cabernet sauvignon and is having great success with new red varieties along with viognier and riesling.
