Geocache Description:

The Quilt Block Series will be a series of 30 caches that are mostly on back roads in President Township.  Some of the roads are posted "No Winter Maintenance."  All of the hides should be quick finds and there are pull-offs close-by each cache.  There is not alot of traffic on these roads, but please be careful when caching with children.

DUTCHMAN'S PUZZLE

The Dutchman's Puzzle uses a staple of the quilt world - The Flying Geese patch.  The block uses 4 sets of double geese.

A favorite type of quilt made during the Victorian period was the "Charm Quilt."  This type of quilt featured at least 1,000 different fabrics.  Every fabric was only used one time.  Families, neighbors and friends would collect and exchange fabrics to build up their collection to do this type of quilt.  The quilts again became popular during the 20's and again in the 21st century.  Quilters have participated in fabric swaps through magazines, friends and that newest form of communication, the Internet.
