When I was growing up my biological father was not around. However the man that was married to my mother was around and he is a very special and important part of my life. His name is Joe. This cache is based on and dedicated to Joe.

Joe is a truly special kind of man; you see my mother and Joe were already married when my mother became pregnant with me. Joe is the type of man that stayed with my mom to help raise me even though he was not my real father. He stayed because he loved my mom and he never questioned her about the strange circumstances of her pregnancy which he was not a part of. That is a special kind of guy.

When I was told that Joe was not my real father but that he was around for my mom’s entire pregnancy it made me a little curious about the strange situation, when I asked about my real father my mother told me that he was a good man and that I would always have a special connection to him. She said he was a very important person and the reason he was not around was because his place was not here with my mother, she also told me that he would always be my father and that I would always be his son. So I lived my life I grew up with Joe and he was an amazing stepdad.

Joe ran a wood finishing shop in the Small town where I grew up. Besides wood working Joe enjoyed brewing his own beer and wine. He would often let me make my own batch of wine that is where I got my wine making talents from.

When I got older and developed an interest in ice fishing, even though it made him nervous Joe would let me walk out on the frozen water of the lake by myself where I would drill my own hole in the thin ice and proceed to catch what Joe always said was a miraculous amount of trout.

When I developed a keen interest in the art of wood work and carpentry Joe got me many of my own tools and he took the time to teach me how to use them safely but then he would leave me to my own creations popping in every now and then to tell me what great work I was doing.

He always said the kindest things about my accomplishments. Giving a young teen space and freedom but still keeping a watchful eye while handing out supportive compliments is a very important part of being a good parent in my opinion.

The things Joe taught me were some of the best lessons in life.

Joe’s 6 virtues to live by

Likewise this is the law of the trespass offering: it is most holy.

Always obey the laws and respect rules and traditions; this is of the utmost importance.

"See, I have taught you statutes and judgments just as the LORD my God commanded me, that you should do thus in the land where you are entering to possess it.

Take the lessons and common sense that I have taught you to live by in my home and apply them in your own home when you move into it.

Of the children of Asher, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

If you are of age and you are asked to serve your country you need to honour your country by serving it.

And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.

When someone really hurts you or takes something from you remember karma will deliver it back and those who wronged you will pay for what they have done.

And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.

Never be discouraged when facing your enemies for no matter how impressive their strengths, no matter how impenetrable their defenses they are no match for your will and if you believe, victory you will receive.

And Enos lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters:

Be everything to your children but always hold on to your own interests as well because you will live a long time after they reach adulthood and go off to live their own lives.
