Takarazuka Unviersity has three campuses. The cache is hidden in front of the Shinjuku campus. The university is the successor to Kansai Women's Art College which was founded in 1966 and renamed Takarazuka University of Art and Design and established as a private university in 1987. The university is now co-ed though it was originally founded as a women's university.
設置年度が1987年と、芸術系大学の中では比較的新しい大学である（前身である関西女子美術短期大学は1967年設置）。2010年4月に大阪梅田キャンパスを開設し、看護学部を設置するのに伴い、大学名を「宝塚造形芸術大学」から「宝塚大学」に変更した。学校法人名は前身となった短期大学の名に準じているが、共学の大学である。
