pdxmarathonman: Finally re-using the starting point for another cache - I just couldn't take a chance on someone else grabbing this spot [}:)]

Geocache Description:

A multi-cache that will introduce you to some points of interest in and around Tigard, Oregon.
Originally placed in 6/2002, moved in 9/2002 and now again on 4/22/2003.

UPDATE 4/22/03: The bear has come out of hibernation and left the park where it spent the winter. It is still nearby the first 2 waypoints, but has moved east. If you have the information from the second waypoint you just need to recalculate the final coords (notice too, the base number of the final longitude is lower).

You'll start your quest only 2 miles from Washington Square shopping center. But you'll soon find out how far away you are from the Pyramids of Gaza and the Taj Mahal.

Once you figure out the difference in distance to the two aforementioned landmarks (call it LLL) you'll have the decimal value of the longitude to waypoint #2.

Now you'll need to extract the number from the 1's column of the distance to 3 different landmarks.
  • a = number from 1's column of distance to Panama Canal
  • b = number from 1's column of distance to Great Wall of China
  • c = number from 1's column of distance to Fowler School
Waypoint #2 is:
  • Latitute: N45 25.abc
  • Longitude: W122 47.LLL
Don't get lost in the park at the 2nd waypoint - you still have one more set of coordinates to calculate.
  • xxx = number of acres in original homestead - 2
  • yyy = year of original homestead - 1682
Final Cache location:
  • Latitude: N45 26.xxx
  • Longitude: W122 47.yyy
Please exercise caution when retrieving and replacing the cache. I recommend taking the cache away from it's hiding spot to sign and trade. You can be spotted quite easily and unsuspectingly.

You'll know the answer to the cache question when you find the container.
