As you may or may not know, there are many ways to hide information, or in the case of this puzzle series, coordinates without displaying any information in the cache page description. There are two ways that are very popular in which you may or may not have seen before:
- 1) Writing information in white font color. When writing in white font color, the message cannot be seen with a white background, but if you highlight the message, you will be able to see the ‘invisible’ message. Try highlighting the message below. This is an invisible message, but sadly does not contain the coordinates to this cache.
- If you enter N39 11.400 W77 7.400 into the geochecker, it will tell you that these are not the correct coordinates.
- 2) Placing information in the source code of the page. You can access the source code by right clicking on the cache page listing and selecting View Page Source. This will bring up a window of the source code for the geocache page. You can scroll down the code and look for a part of the code that is labeled “UserSuppliedContent”. In this section, the cache owner can put whatever information he or she wants to. To look for a message that is not being displayed on the cache listing, you would look for a message in green with that opens with a less than sign with an exclamation point and closed with a greater than sign. If you click on the source code for this cache listing, you will see I put a message in this area of the listing.
None of the seven caches in this puzzle series will have the coordinates hidden in the cache page description in the two ways I have shown above. But their coordinates will be hidden somewhere where you can find it. While looking for coordinates for one puzzle, you may end up finding the coordinates for another of the puzzles. Most of the ways I have hidden the coordinates should not be too difficult. Once you solve one of the puzzle caches, the rest may become easier to solve. There will be a hint for the hide and a picture of GZ given after you have entered the correct coordinates in the geochecker. The hides are not supposed to be difficult. You may need to bring tweezers for a couple of the hides.
The geocaches are located on the Blue Mash Trail. Parking coordinates are listed on the cache page for JAG #1. The trail is open from sunup to sundown. Please be respectful of the natural pathways on the Blue Mash Trail.
