Geocache Description:

A Virtual Hunt for a Legendary Giant, very suitable for families, Park at N53 20.054 W2 47.999 or at the eponymous pub if you intend to sample their goods. And take a quiet stroll through the village.

The village of Hale is minutes away from one of busiest conurbations in the Northwest and within sight of one of the largest chemical factories in the UK.Yet the village still retains a quiet sense of peace and dignity. This cache celebrates the villages most famous son John Middleton, "The Childe of Hale".Legend has it that one night he went down to the riverbank, drew two lines in the sand and fell asleep, by the next morning he was as tall as the gap between the lines, Nine Feet Three inches!Walking through the village you will pass the house where he lived, note the two small windows in the end of his cottage, local fokelore has it that he was too tall to fit on the bed so slept with his feet sticking out through the windows. He is also known to have taken on the Kings Champion at wrestling and beaten him despite being the underdog by breaking his thumb. His reward for the task in 1617 was £20!Follow the co-ordinates to his resting place and answer the riddle to log the cache.

"Stand at my grave and ignore the sea,

Ahead of you now my image you'll see,There are many fine things engraved on the tree, but the answer I pray you to these questions three..The objects I hold in my left and my rightare a source of safety and of delight, But the sport you will see is one I disdain,I pray, if you will these three subjects you'll name. "E-mail me the three answers, if you are correct you may log the cache.
