Geocache Description:

Custer, SD is the oldest town in the Black Hills.  Gold was discovered in near by French Creek  in 1874 by the Black Hills Expedition led by Lt. Col. George A. Custer and the 7th Cavalry

Main  Street was made wide enough for a team of oxen pulling a wagon to be able to turn completely around in the mid 1800's.

Gold Discovery Days celebration and festival is held the last full week in July.  The Custer County Courthouse Museum is a must to discover more about Custer City.

There is a small pull out providing parking off the highway.  Be safe and pull completely off the road. Look for a small cammoed container.  Don't forget a pencil. Please rehide as you found it or better.  B*Y*O*P
