The geocache is placed near a great sightseeing and picture taking place.
The palace is located downtown (Market Al.I Cuza) and it is bordered by monumental buildings old and new, which emphasize it's aesthetics and urban style values. It was designed by the architect. Petre Antonescu (1873 -1965) who was a promoter of Neo-Romanian style architecture.
Construction of the Administrative Palace in Craiova was conducted in the years 1912 -1913, shortly after completing a similar building in Bucharest.
The palace is currently the headquarters of the Administrative Offices of the Dolj County.
Built on a symmetrical planfocused on vertical massive central tower of the main entrance, the building reflects on the one hand the classical conception the author, and on the other hand his attachment to the traditional Romanian architecture made clear in the decoration of facades and the interior.
In the center of the composition is honorary grand stair that leads to reception halls, council rooms and offices. The building is made of brick with reinforced concrete floors. The plinth of the building is clad with marble being used for frames, columns, strips etc.
The roof covering was made of fish scale type tiles, glazed green. This building, like all those made in the Neo-Romanian style, one can observe original interpretations of the window and door frames, decorative girdles, columns, and other specific Romanian old architecture.
Palatul situat in zona centrala a orasului (Piata Al.I Cuza) marginita de cladiri monumentale vechi si noi, care-i pun in evidenta valoarea estetica si urbanistica deosebita, proiectat de arh. Petre Antonescu (1873 -1965) promotor al stilului neoromanesc in arhitectura.
Constructia Palatului administrativ din Craiova a fost realizata in anii 1912 -1913, la scurt timp dupa terminarea cladirii similare din Bucuresti.
Palatul este actualmente sediul Prafecturii Dolj.
Conceput pe un plan simetric, axat pe verticala masivului turn central al intrarii principale, constructia reflecta pe de o parte conceptia clasica
a autorului, iar pe de alta parte atasamentul sau fata de arhitectura traditionala romaneasca evidenta in decoratia fatadelor si tratarea interioarelor.
In centrul compozitiei se afla scara mare de onoare, cu accesele spre salile de receptie, de consiliu si birouri. Constructia este executata din caramida cu plansee de beton armat. Soclul cladirii este placat cu piatra, material folosit si pentru ancadramente, coloane, frize etc. Invelitoarea acoperisului s-a executat din tigla-solz, smaltuita, de culoare verde. La aceasta lucrare, la fel ca la toate cele realizate in stil neoromanesc, se intalnesc interpretari originale ale ancadramentelor de ferestre si usi, braielor decorative, coloanelor, capitelurilor si alte elemente specifice arhitecturii vechi romanesti
