Geocache Description:

Cache is not at the posted coordinates. Will need to solve the puzzle listed below.

This cache is part of the Lighthouse Geo Art Series. This series was inspired from always seeing Fond Du Lacs' iconic Lighthouse. Each cache page will have a different fact relating to lighthouses, a lighthouse that is in WI, or something else lighthouse related.

  • All caches are placed on the side of the road at various poles, sign posts, guardrails. And if you have all the cache puzzles solved, all 100 caches can be done in a power trail.
  • There are 8 clues needed to solve for the final cache. Each clue has two caches, so you might find the same clue twice. If running as a power trail and moving each cache to the next. PLEASE LEAVE the clue caches in their original spot in case they go missing, it will help me keep track.
    • All Clues are written on the outside of the pill bottle, on the cap, on the inside of the cap, and on the top of the log sheet.
  • If you want to finish the trail of caches close to the final I would recommend starting/ending around the Lighthouse Geo Art Series #'s 76 and 71
  • If you need a cache container to help do a power run you can find some in my 100th Hide cache. I might place another one out there as well to store caches in. Feel free to replace them if you deem it is missing (ie at least a 5min search) Please make note though in case it was a clue cache.
  • Please drive and park responsibly. Pull off on the side of the road, use your flashers, keep your eyes open. Please be safe!

Cache Fact

Lightship - A lightship is actually a floating lighthouse. They were stationed in areas where it was too expensive or too dangerous to build a lighthouse. Lightship duty was considered the most dangerous duty of all in the Lighthouse Service and later in the Coast Guard. Lightships were not allowed to leave their position under any circumstances and no matter how severe the weather was. Lightships are no longer used and were replaced by modern ocean and deep water buoys. There are only a 14 lightships left in existence, with a few having been restored such as the Ambrose Lightship in New York and Huron Lightship in Michigan. Efforts are underway to save the rest of them.
